Vocaloid: HB Gackpoid

On June 31, 2008, Internet Co., Ltd. released their first Vocaloid, Gackpoid (がくっぽいど). Compared to Crypton, who used voice actresses for their Vocaloid2 products, Internet wanted to use an actual singer. When they consulted Dwango Co., Ltd, the suggestion was the singer and actor Gackt. The next problem, however, was the lack of design, although he was named (by Gackt himself). Miura Kentarou, noted for Berserk, lent his services for free for character design, as the artist had an affection for Nico Nico Douga. He gave Gakupo (the mascot's name) a "samurai aethestic". Gakupo's optimum tempo is 60 - 150 bpm, and his optimum range is A1-C4. His character item is eggplant.

Oh Gakupo. I honestly feel bad about emasculating you a little here after watching "Venomania" all week. But you're still my third favorite guy…and…I don't know exactly where you rank in my overall favorites.

I have a hard time drawing guys (although, as seen in a previous piece, I can manage Kaito, but whatever), and Gakupo is no exception. DX Something looks wonky, but I can't place what it is. Maybe he's too stiff or something.

A little story behind this piece: You know how Kaito is typically the abused one? Yeaaaaah…not for me. Therefore I abuse Gakupo. Anyways, for his second birthday, Gakkun was promised a cake. He didn't expect a cheering, negi-whacking Hachune inside. Insert sadface here.
